1. Savannah
Savannah is the oldest city in Georgia, with etches of its past preserved in its historic brick buildings and cobblestone streets. The enchanting Spanish moss dangling from the trees is enough to make you feel like you’re in a fairytale. From carriage rides to ghost tours, this city has a little bit of everything for every type of couple.
There are plenty of mansions and bed and breakfasts to choose from that honor the old Southern charm of the city. But we really liked how The River Street Inn put its own unique industrial spin on the classic ambiance. This boutique hotel is located directly on River Street, offering stunning views of the Savannah River and a perfect spot to watch the sunset with your loved one.
While in Savannah, make sure you check off all the must-dos, like a walk through Forsyth Park, a visit to Bonaventure Cemetery, and indulging in some delicious Southern cuisine at local favorites like The Olde Pink House.
2. Clayton
Once Cherokee territory, Clayton was occupied by European settlers in the early 1820s (boo!). Even though it’s no longer Indigenous land, the town hosts many annual Native American festivals and events to honor its history. With the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains and the Chattahoochee National Forest surrounding the town, Clayton offers the perfect backdrop for a romantic getaway.
Reconnect with nature at the Lake Rabun Hotel & Restaurant, where you can stay in a cozy cabin or suite and enjoy farm-to-table cuisine. Visit during autumn, and you’ll see the most beautiful fall foliage, making for a picturesque drive to nearby attractions like Tallulah Gorge State Park or Black Rock Mountain State Park.
Downtown Clayton is also worth exploring, with its charming local shops, art galleries, and restaurants. Check out Wander North Georgia for unique outdoor gear and gifts, and at the end of the day, cozy up with your significant other at Universal Joint for some delicious burgers and craft beer!

3. Tybee Island
Tybee is a coastal paradise full of history and natural beauty. There’s something about it that reminds you to slow down and enjoy the simple things in life. Located just 20 minutes from downtown Savannah, Tybee Island has plenty of romantic things to do, from watching the sunset on the beach to strolling through the charming streets of the island.
We highly recommend staying at the Tybee Island Inn, a cozy bed and breakfast with charming rooms and a darn delicious breakfast. You’ll be just a 4-minute walk from the beach and 17 miles from Downtown Savannah. Spend your days lounging on the beach, exploring the Tybee Island Lighthouse and Museum, or taking a romantic sunset cruise.
Tybee Island is also home to some unique events throughout the year, such as the Tybee Wine Festival in April and the Pirate Fest in October. So be sure to check out their event calendar before planning your trip!
4. Pine Mountain
If you’re craving some fresh air and outdoor adventure with your significant other, Pine Mountain is the place to be. The area is known for its stunning natural landscapes, including the Callaway Gardens, a 2,500-acre resort with beautiful gardens and hiking trails. The best time to visit is in the spring when the azaleas are in full bloom!
There are plenty of romantic cabins to rent in the area. We loved the seclusion of Pine Mountain Luxury Cabin. It’s nestled in a serene forest setting, complete with a hot tub and a cozy bed and fireplace. Walk to the creek on the 22-acre property and have a romantic picnic surrounded by nature.
Aside from the beautiful natural surroundings, Pine Mountain was once home to President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s vacation retreat, the Little White House. Today, visitors can tour the house and learn about Roosevelt’s life and presidency. The town also has several charming antique shops and local restaurants to explore, so make sure you take a leisurely stroll!
5. Atlanta
Atlanta has a unique way of merging the hustle and bustle of city life with Southern small-town charm. It’s a melting pot of cultures and offers endless opportunities for entertainment, dining, and shopping. If you’re into vibrant art scenes, check out the Atlanta BeltLine, an expansive outdoor art exhibit and trail that connects various neighborhoods.
The Georgian Terrace is a historic hotel in the heart of Midtown Atlanta, known for its elegant architecture and luxurious accommodations. It’s also just a short walk away from popular attractions like the Fox Theatre and Piedmont Park. In this area, there are plenty of local cuisine options, from fine dining to casual eats.
For a unique perspective on the city, take a stroll through Atlanta’s Centennial Olympic Park. This park was built for the 1996 Olympic Games and has since become a popular gathering spot for locals and tourists alike. It features beautiful landscaping, interactive fountains, and regular events and concerts.
Most Important Tip
Take at least one day trip during your Georgia getaway! Whether you’re staying in Atlanta, Helen, or Savannah, there are plenty of nearby destinations that are worth exploring.
6. Jekyll Island
Similar to Tybee Island but with more of a secluded, untouched feel, Jekyll Island is a must-visit for nature lovers. Located on the coast of Georgia, this barrier island offers stunningly romantic beaches, marshlands, and forests to explore.
Sleep by the ocean in Villas By The Sea! It’s right by Driftwood Beach, a picturesque spot with an eerie atmosphere due to the large amounts of driftwood scattered along the shore. The hotel features a pool, restaurant, and fitness room.
Make sure you check out the Georgia Sea Turtle Center, where you can learn about and observe sea turtles in their natural habitat. Food can be crazy expensive in Jekyll, so we recommend buying groceries and cooking at your accommodation to save some money! Go overseas without leaving the States in Helen, Georgia’s replica Bavarian alpine village. The Blue Ridge Mountains surround this charming town and offers a unique cultural experience through its architecture, food, and events.
