Gatlinburg is home to plenty of Great Smoky Mountains cabins for couples. With only an 18-minute drive to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, you and your special someone can effortlessly explore the park’s lush forests and picturesque mountain views. Our favorite of the Gatlinburg romantic cabin getaways is the Sugar Bear, a beautiful cabin nestled in the woods with a cozy outdoor hot tub.

Although you could easily spend your entire trip exploring The Smokies, there’s plenty to do in this Appalachian small town. From delicious BBQ eats and ziplining to the Ober Gatlinburg Amusement Park and Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smoky’s, you’ll never be bored. For a romantic evening out, the Parkway in downtown Gatlinburg offers an array of great restaurants and shops to choose from.

Getting to Gatlinburg is easy as well, with several airports nearby. Knoxville’s McGhee Tyson Airport is about an hour’s drive away. And major interstates like I-40, I-75, and I-81 are all convenient routes to take into town if you’re driving your way there.

While Gatlinburg is a beautiful place to be all year round, we recommend visiting in the fall for the most romantic experience. The foliage colors are gorgeous, making it easy to find an incredible cabin in the woods with amazing autumn views. Plus, the town celebrates Smoky Mountain Harvest Festival in October. Here, you can get your ultimate fall fix with hayrides, pumpkins, and apple cider.

Asheville is a hip, eclectic city that combines the beauty of art and nature to create a fun and vibrant experience like no other. Located in the foothills of North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains, the Asheville cabin rentals for couples are some of the most romantic hideaways in all of the Southeast. Our favorite luxury cabin is the Honeymoon Sweet, equipped with a full kitchen, spa shower, and a stunning view of the Smoky Mountains seen through a 20-foot wide bay of glass.

Asheville is known for its art and music scene, making it the perfect romantic city to explore for those who appreciate culture. Whether you’re checking out the urban street murals or attending a local show at The Orange Peel, you’ll never run out of things to do here. Asheville also offers plenty of outdoor activities, like hiking trails, biking paths, and whitewater rafting.

Asheville Regional Airport is the closest and most convenient airport for flying. The city is also easily accessible by car, located at the intersection of I-26 and I-40. We recommended visiting in the spring when the flowers are at peak bloom or in the fall when the foliage paints the city with color. In the summertime, the Asheville Wine & Food Festival hits the streets for a weekend of local cuisine, music, and art. There are also plenty of festivals such as this year round!

Visitors to Lake Tahoe will be swept away by its crystal blue waters and majestic mountain backdrop. With plenty of lakeside cabins for couples to choose from, you won’t have trouble finding somewhere romantic to stay. We recommend Stargazer, the Lakefront studio in Crystal Bay. It has easy access to the sandy beaches, floor-to-ceiling windows, and an indoor gas fireplace.

What’s great about staying at Lake Tahoe romantic cabin rentals is that it’s a destination you can enjoy all year round. During the winter, you can hit up the ski slopes and cozy up by one of the many fireplaces. They also hold ski competitions and celebrate the annual Snowfest. Summertime is great for outdoor adventures like stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking, and lounging on the beach. This is a great time of year to catch outdoor concerts and the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival.

If you’re planning to fly into Lake Tahoe, Reno-Tahoe International Airport is the closest, being only 45 minutes away by car along U.S. Route 50. If you’re driving in from another state, take I-80 East to Highway 89 South for North Lake Tahoe or Highway 50 East for South Lake Tahoe.

Wherever you decide to go, Lake Tahoe’s beauty and diverse range of seasonal romantic activities will always make it a top destination for a cozy cabin getaway. It’s one of those special places that draws you in and gets the sparks flying!

FAQ

How to book a cabin for a romantic getaway?

Booking your romantic cabin rental is super easy — Google is your friend! Just search for cabins in the area you and your partner are visiting. Then, narrow down your search results by amenities, budget, location, etc.

From there, decide together on the cabin that best fits your needs and book it directly on the website or through a third-party platform like Airbnb or VRBO. Be sure to compare prices! One may charge more than the other.

What should we pack for a cabin getaway?

Romantic cabin getaways are typically pretty low-key, so casual attire is your best bet. You also want to pack clothing that’ll be good in the elements if you plan on hiking, fishing, or doing any other outdoor activities.

Since these locations are usually at higher elevations or near bodies of water, it’s also a good idea to bring plenty of layers. Comfortable shoes, a few pairs of jeans/sweatpants, as well as t-shirts, sweaters, and a jacket or two, should have you covered. You also want to be sure to pack the essentials like toiletries, medication, chargers, and a camera for capturing all the memories!

How to ensure privacy during our cabin stay?

The last thing any couple wants to deal with is a noisy family in a cabin next-door or loud partygoers in the area. To ensure you and your love feel peaceful and secluded during your stay, book a cabin rental that is known for its privacy, or that has plenty of space apart from other cabins in the area.

For added privacy, look for a cabin rental that has a fenced yard or is surrounded by trees and foliage. You can easily find out information like this when you go on their website or look up reviews from past guests.

How to make our cabin getaway more special and romantic?

We get it. You’re in a gorgeous cabin with the love of your life, so why not go the extra mile and make it the ultimate romantic getaway? A good place to start is by sprucing up the cabin with some romantic decor and lighting. Candles, flowers, and soft music can all set the mood.

If your cabin comes with a hot tub or Jacuzzi, you can make it extra special by adding some petals and bubbly! You can also look for a cabin that comes with an outdoor fire pit, as this is the perfect spot to snuggle up with your partner.

One of our favorite romantic ideas is to plan an intimate picnic or dinner in the woods (or on the porch of your cabin). You could also arrange an evening of horseback riding if the area provides it. Whatever you decide to do, there’s no doubt your romantic escape will be one to remember!

The Mountains Are Calling

Beaches are great and all, but nothing compares to the fresh mountain air, cozy campfires, and sweeping mountain views of a romantic cabin getaway. You and your one and only can cuddle up in a rustic cabin under the stars and explore the area’s many hiking trails, wildlife, galleries, craft shops, and more.

We hope our top five picks have made your decision-making process a little easier. But wherever you decide to go, just remember that as long as you’re together, that’s all that matters! So stuff your suitcase and get ready for a vacation filled with adventure, romance, and beautiful views.
